Redeemer Community Church has deep roots in Carbondale — going all the way back to October 1861. Four faithful believers (three men and one woman) came together to plant what would become the third church in town. By the turn of the century, Carbondale was buzzing with growth — over 80 trains a day passed through our railroad stations — and our church sat right in the heart of it on Main Street, where the Carbondale Hospital now stands.

For more than 100 years, that Main Street location was home. But in 2009, sensing God’s leading toward a new chapter, we replanted on South Giant City Road to make space for new families, fresh growth, and a renewed vision. Around that same time, we transitioned from a Baptist congregation to an interdenominational community church — welcoming believers from across the Christian spectrum. Today, our church family includes people from Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican, charismatic, and many other backgrounds.

In 2018, we moved once more — this time to our current home on South Lewis Lane. This location puts us right in the middle of a neighborhood, making it easier than ever to connect with the people we’re called to love and serve.
